I flipped through the English translation at the local bookstore after finishing the original… the translation of “the summer of ubume” is probably divine compared to that of Loups garou.. i think the translator mistook “desk” as “disc” (the part where Shizue was consulting Hinako about uranai). so although i bought the summer of ubume for collective purposes i refrained from getting this one..

I have not seen the anime adaptation – I guess the character design turned me off. On your word, I guess I need not bother to check it out.

I finished the book today!

It was an easier read than Summer of the Ubume. I was a little bored at the start though, but halfway through I was having trouble putting it down. ^_^;

As for the anime adaptation, well, it was awful–no, more like a mangling of the material. Even though I watched it raw (which means some details might have slipped by me), I could see that it’s lost a lot of the essence of the story. And what happened to Kunugi’s character was unforgivable! I’m having second thoughts on watching it again with subs. It’s like torturing oneself.

Thanks for the review. I pre-ordered my English copy already but I probably won’t have time to get to it until much later :/
