[Newsflash] Yuasa Masaaki's new anime series 'Kaiba (カイバ )'
Breaking news! Master Yuasa (of Mind Game and Kemonozume fame) has an upcoming new TV series called Kaiba (カイバ ). This is what we know so far:
- It is billed as a refreshing SF love story.
- It will begin to air in April on WOWOW.
- The slogan reads: 'I shall love you even if I have lost my memory.'
- The anime studio involved is Madhouse.
It seems that my wishlist for 2008 is one step to becoming fulfilled!

I'm so glad about this news, too. That said, I'm not so looking forward to all the people claiming "Kaiba" has "bad animation" simply because Yuasa Masaaki's style is intentionally rough; that one definitely makes my blood boil.

The director of Kemonozume (which I still have to watch), WOWOW and Madhouse ?
That sure sounds like very promising news. I already like the visual. :D

bateszi:
It has amazing how the present generic artstyle emerged over time and how most series conform to that generic artstyle as if by default. (It reminds me of the way most computers ship with MS Vista these days as a matter of course.) It seems to be a self-imposed restriction which in turn seems to be reinforced by fans with self-imposed criteria of what is 'beautiful' and what is 'ugly' in anime. (This reminds me of how some people shy away from Linux and Mac or complain that they are not Windows-like.)

Please watch 'Kemonozume' as soon as possible. It is just the sort of thing you will like.
